Simply Aging

VII. Supplementary

45. If we rejuvenate an organ, would it change the biological age of the organism?

If an organ has a lower or normal biological age, rejuvenating it is expected to have minimal effect on the biological age of the organism; multiple organs or systemic drivers may need to be targeted to observe a global effect. If an organ has a higher biological age and is a limiting weak link or source of detrimental systemic signals, its rejuvenation may improve organismal biological age and risk. In general, rejuvenation of a single organ is expected to have a limited global effect unless that organ disproportionately shapes organismal failure.
