Simply Aging

47. Why might combination therapies be necessary?

Aging is multi-component and imperfectly synchronous among organs, so single interventions may be limiting. Rational combinations could target different processes or different organs, but require careful evaluation of interactions, safety, and diminishing returns. Additionally, when nature adjusts species lifespan, it changes many genes and pathways, and recapitulating this longevity transitions may be expected to also require combination strategies.
