3. How random is the deleteriome?

Life cannot avoid producing damage, but it can shape the composition of damage. The biological deleteriome is not a purely random accumulation of damage; it is partially organized by physiology. Each function produces a characteristic spectrum of byproducts and errors, and evolution can favor architectures that channel these errors into forms that are modular, compartmentalized, and handled by generic maintenance systems. In this sense, life regularizes the deleteriome, making it more low-dimensional and more compressible, so finite biological control can track and mitigate it. The deleteriome has both stochastic and non-stochastic components, but their relationships and contributions are not well established yet.
